Well, it took me quite a while, but I have now realized why I keep missing when the School Board publishes the minutes of their meetings. The problem is that they don’t publish the previous meeting minutes until such are approved at the following meeting. I know, this seems like a no-brainer, but I suppose that I have been spoiled by how Newark’s City Council publishes their minutes. They actually make those available on the website before Council even approves them. If anything, I would like to see the School Board streamline this process to mirror what Council does, even if you have to designate the minutes as “unofficial” until they are formally voted on.
Of course, this still doesn’t excuse the lack of agendas for special meetings (or advanced notice for such) nor does it excuse the lack of meeting videos, considering that there has been a camera present at every meeting that I’ve been able to attend.
In campaign news, I now have 136 signatures of the 150 I want to obtain before I officially file. If everything goes the way I plan I will be filing on the 30th.
